1987 BMW R80 G/S

Here is the grand-daddy of all big adventure touring bikes.  This 1987 R80 G/S was BMW’s original concept of “on-road / Off road” which would revolutionize and revitalize BMW’s sales for decades to come.  This is arguably BMW’s truest vision to the theme, built to be lightweight, good ground clearance, big 21-inch front wheel for clearing obstacles it really doesn’t have the feel of a big bike when taken off road.  The huge PD tank means fill-ups are few and far between.  This bike is very solid, many upgrades done to it withing the last 2000 km including front fork refresh, transmission rebuilt with circlip mod done, final drive R&R among others.  It came to us in August 2018 with 67 410 km on the odometer.

Work in progress to do a general clean-up and inspection.  Most of the wiring is getting replaced to bring it back to original (at some point a lot of “improvements” had been made in the electricals).  Also adding rear luggage carrier, relining the tank rebuilding carbs, replacing cables and other assorted odds and ends…
