Now that the crank and its fresh slingers are back in the motor, it’s time to re-assemble other bits onto it.
First up is the magneto and the points. The first step is to get the flywheel at “OT” or TDC, then line-up some little marks on the magneto and the points plate before bolting this back on.

Then it’s time for a little update.

Along with the parts order came a new condenser and new points, so these were replaced.

Had to remove the wire from the old condenser and re-solder it to the new one.

Then re-assembled everything back where it belongs

So now we have new points and new condenser

Time to clean up the advance unit. While there were no real overt signs that it wasn’t working properly, I figured that those 56-year-old springs could probably use some “refresh”.

Took the advance unit apart, cleaned and lubed all parts, removed the old springs

and re-assembled everything back together.

I’m kind of glad I took a bunch of pictures before taking it apart, each spring is different, they attach to the plates at a different area, so many ways to mess it up on re-assembly…
